Little Digits Casting Process

Hand & Foot Casting Process

Our casting process begins with preparing a clean workspace and gathering materials. A skin-safe alginate mixture is blended to a smooth, creamy consistency and used to capture the hand or foot in a relaxed pose. As the alginate sets, it forms a flexible, highly detailed mold that gently releases when the hand or foot is removed.
The mold is then filled with freshly mixed plaster of Paris, poured slowly to capture fine lines and minimize air bubbles. After the plaster hardens, the alginate is peeled away to reveal the detailed cast. Once fully dried, the piece can be lightly refined, sealed creating a lasting keepsake.
